New York Knicks: 50-1

Whatever debate there has been about Phil Jackson’s capacity to institute a culture change is over. He did it and to a greater degree than anyone could have possibly foreseen.
J.R. Smith has seen the light.
“Trying to think about the rest of the group over my scoring is something which I never really had to do before,” Smith told ESPNNewYork.com’s Ohm Youngmisuk. “I’ve always been in a position to dent, [now I am ] able to take my time and let the game come and let my teammates succeed over myself, I think that’s the ultimate win.”
Private transformations from the preseason have a way of reversing themselves as the year progresses, but for now, it seems Jackson has performed magic.
Getting Smith to purchase into the equal-opportunity tenets of the triangle offense is huge, and everything after that–figuring out how to coax defense out of a frontcourt rotation involving Andrea Bargnani and Amar’e Stoudemire, convincing James Dolan to maintain kazoos from this locker room–should be cake.
The Knicks aren’t so far removed from a year in 2012-13. Jackson’s influence alone ought to help them get closer to that total compared to 37 wins they amassed season.
Still, don’t expect a championship chase–Carmelo Anthony gets some real help and not until 2015 is sloughed off in by the bad contracts on the novels.

Online Sportsbooks in Canada – July 2019

List and compare the top online sportsbook sites in Canada within our massive directory! GamingZion will help you find the best odds and the highest online sportsbook bonuses in Canada including free bets, accumulator bonuses and insurance bonuses.
Online Sports Betting in Canada
Horse racing was among the earliest sports to become lawful to bet on in Canada. But since the law changed from the 1960s, broadening the possibilities of sports gambling, it has become increasingly popular. In reality, the nation has a system named Sport Select (termed differently according to the states ), which is similar to the lottery as gamers purchase tickets and fill them out using the outcomes. These days, it’s also available online in some provinces.
According to the Criminal Code (R.S.C.,1985, c.C-46), all kinds of online gambling are illegal. Consequently, the same applies to online sportsbook websites in Canada. But states have legal jurisdiction over their lands when it comes to gaming, so you will find bookmakers licensed in certain areas of the country.
The Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency is a federal regulatory body, which is responsible for the pari-mutuel gambling. One of the legal options of the system is your telephone account gaming that allows a patron to carry bets via telephone or online to a racetrack in which the patron has an account.
The only form of betting allowed for Canadians is parlay bets, meaning that they can simply bet on the outcome of 2 or more events at once. This is the reason the Bill C-290 was suggested in 2012 so that Canadians could bet on a single event. Even though at the time on line sportsbook news websites report that some major leagues – like the NHL or the MLB – compared the bill, the scenario has now changed, which is among the reasons why the legislation could pass in a near future.
Additionally, as a result of this restriction, many bettors are using foreign operators, especially the ones that provide their services directly to Canadians, since they are located from the Kahnawake Mohawk Territory.

Trusted Sports Betting Sites This webpage is designed to give you the rundown on what to look for in a gaming site. Nobody wants to have a bad experience with any company they do business together, and betting websites are not any different.
When assessing any gambling website, we search for the following:
Sort of bets — Does the website provide moneyline, point spread, parlay, props, teasers and totals bets? Do they offer live betting? Are there a vast range of sporting events to choose from? What games lines are readily available? Are there any lines on NFL, NBA, NHL, EPL, MLB and other major sports leagues?
Trustworthiness — Does the sportsbook have a good reputation?
Odds — Could you toggle between American odds (Vegas odds) and decimal odds?
Bonuses and Rewards — Exactly what incentives do they offer sports bettors? Just how many promotions can be found per week? What exactly does the sportsbook’s affiliate program demand? Are there any specific mobile promotions?
Additional Features — Does the site have a casino, live poker or a racebook? Are there other options besides gambling on sports?
Usability — Is the site responsive? Does it take long to load? Is the site easy to navigate?
Deposit and draw choices — Can the sportsbook accept credit cards? E-wallets? Checks? Do they let you withdraw your winnings easily?
Customer service availability — What happens if you require help with your account? Are they available to answer questions 24/7? Do they have a live chat feature to respond to comments, problems or account problems?
Currencies and languages — Can they accept many currencies? Can you see the website in different languages? For the most part, English is the language used, however it is significant that a sportsbook has other options like Spanish, Portuguese or French.
Any of the sportsbooks we recommend previously are safe, protected and hit all of the marks from our list. There are a lot of online betting sites to rely, which explains why Odds Shark has done the vetting for you. It would be impossible for you to test every single sportsbook on the Internet. You would miss whole seasons of major sports. We can not have this.
What Makes an Ideal Betting Experience?
As the old saying goes,”Customer service is essential.” We are not sure who said that originally, but it’s something that bettors must think about when visiting any sportsbook.
Unlike Las Vegas, at which you can physically stop by a bookmaker in a casino hotel, online gaming sites are basically virtual casinos that take real cash to bet on major sports leagues (and a few minor leagues also ). However, this does not signify that a web-based sportsbook’s speech is simply located online. Any reputable sportsbook will have a physical address based on its site along with contact information. Some will also have a FAQ or”About Us” section that you can review to help you feel more comfortable about betting there.
Another important source you may use to research online betting sites is social media. Any trusted sportsbook ought to have a social networking presence that they can utilize as a valuable customer service tool. Following and/or”Liking” the gambling site enables sports bettors see how the company communicates and interacts with all prospective and current customers. If a gaming site is responsive on interpersonal media, it is possible to see that they actually care about their customers and are receptive to feedback.
Finding the Right Online Sports Betting Site for You
The online books we recommend are good at every aspect of sports gambling, casino wagering, poker, and horse racing. Whatever you’re looking for in an Internet gambling site, don’t settle for anything less than just one that caters directly to your needs and provides all the features you need as a bettor. If you’re searching for live odds so that you may bet on any given NFL game on any given Sunday, then be certain that the sportsbook you choose offers exactly that. If you are into betting college sports such as March Madness, ensure that the sports betting site you utilize provides game lines and odds on the NCAA basketball game you are watching. The reason we urge these sportsbooks is because they’re proficient in all parts of gambling.
Casino and Poker
Among the great things about the gambling is if your done with your NFL props, a football futures bet or betting college basketball totals, you can take a break and check out a sportsbook’s casino offering. Most gambling sites have their particular manufacturer of slot machines, table games (blackjack, roulette, baccarat), live dealer poker and poker rooms.
Since you’re using exactly the same sportsbook for your own casino and gambling needs, you can go back and forth easily to check out the score of the basketball, soccer or NBA game you’re betting on between hands of poker. Betting MLB while playing casino gaming? Sounds like a fun day.
Ready to bet on Sports?
Odds Shark intends to take your best interests into account — combining our understanding of the online betting company, its history, how they cater to their existing customers, and also what promotions they use to draw players that are new.
You could also do your own research by creating accounts at multiple sportsbooks to determine which one (or ones) you like best. Look for odds and lines on your favourite sports to wager on. Most betting websites will provide you a hefty welcome bonus or even reduced juice when you sign up.
Another great way to decide whether a sportsbook is worth your time would be to play around on the website to get familiar with the layout. See what the images are like and when they’re too flashy (or not flashy enough) for you. If a website is cluttered with images that look out of place, you may have difficulty locating the betting lines you’re searching for.
What’s more, if a site looks great on your desktop but is not possible to scroll through on your telephone, it’s a sign that the sportsbook should get with the times. Mobile betting is equally vital as wagering on your notebook computer, whether you use Android or Apple products. Many bookmakers are going to get an app or mobile-optimized site, making it easy to bet from your handheld device (iPad, Tablet). Additionally, with mobile gaming, you can put your bets on the go. The next time you’re in the dentist waiting to get a cleaning, why don’t you take out your phone and see what the future odds are around the Super Bowl? It will definitely help the time pass.
Furthermore, if you’ve some questions which still require answers after checking out any of those sports gambling websites we recommend above, contact the sportsbook directly. The best gaming websites truly care about their customers and will take the time needed to secure your business and keep it.
Creating an Account
Enrolling in an internet betting site is a simple process. You’ll need to provide some private information such as your name, email and area. How you want to finance your account is up to you. Just make certain that you have your deposit information handy — more on this below — because after the sign-up procedure is complete, you put your first bet.
Deposit Options
Playing for real money in the sportsbook of choice entails finding a deposit option which is reasonable for your needs. The majority of betting sites allow you to make deposits with your credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX), e-wallets (PayPal, Neteller, Skrill), as well as debit.
As we go closer and closer to a completely digitized world, more and more online sports gambling websites will accept cryptocurrency as a deposit system. Ordinarily, you’ll find gambling sites that take Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash and Ethereum. You could end up at the end of a crypto bonus because some betting sites offer special promotions for those who use Bitcoin.
Some sportsbooks allow you to draw your winnings with the same option you used to finance your accounts, but some demand a different system to collect your money. Based on the website, you can receive your winnings via a paper check or if you use a credit card or cryptocurrency as your deposit, you can use it to withdraw your funds also. It is also possible to leave your winnings in your account and use it to keep betting.
Now that you are equipped with enough info to get you started, select a sportsbook from our list and you’re all set to bet.

UFC 226 Predictions and Betting Odds

International Fight Week culminates in UFC 226, among the greatest cards on paper we’ve seen in some time. This card is piled to bottom — I would seriously recommend watching nearly every one of the bouts with this card — but that doesn’t always lend itself nicely to bettors. Don’t worry, I am here to bring you an in-depth breakdown and prediction for every single fight on the main card of UFC 226.
2018 Prediction Record To Date
Straight Up Selecting Notifications Picking Underdogs
27-19 23-13 4-6
Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier
Miocic (-250) has assembled his match around his world-class boxing skills. He constantly probes together with his long jab as he waits for his opportunity to counter. That having been said, Miocic might be better if he is fighting in a phone booth with more energy in his short punches than many humans have, period. In addition, the reigning champion is a former D1 wrestler who has adapted his style excellently to MMA. Generally, these abilities are used defensively but Miocic may also use them to wear down opponents — view his latest bout versus Francis Ngannou. If he has one big drawback, it’s his defense. He’s got a bad tendency to take a hit to give a hit.
Cormier (+195) is first and foremost a series wrestling pro. The former Olympian is at his finest when he could get his competitor’s back against the cage and start working his enormous array of takedowns. If he gets on top, DC is a master in making his opponent work while giving them nowhere to go. His striking is not the sexiest but the meat-and-potatoes approach has become an excellent secondary skill set for Cormier. Though he’s proven as a heavyweight — 13-0 in the weight class — his height and reach disadvantage will probably be announced in this one.
Unlike the betting odds, I wouldn’t be shocked if Cormier won this fight. The only man to beat him is Jon Jones. However, Miocic is an excellent boxer who will make use of his reach advantage over the smaller Cormier along with the heavyweight winner’s wrestling background means he won’t be steamrolled by the former Olympian.

THE MMA INJURY BUG: MAURICIO ‘SHOGUN’ RUA

With the announcement last month of Mauricio”Shogun” Rua’s powerful shoulder surgery, the Brazilian superstar has continued his legacy of being a mixed martial arts (MMA) medical marvel. It is beyond evident that Shogun is injury prone. However, with the total amount of punishment he’s obtained, many might consider it amazing that is he is not only still alive to talk about it continues fighting professionally at the highest level on the biggest point to this day. Throughout Shogun’s storied 30+ fight MMA career, he has faced countless setbacks through the much-maligned MMA Injury Bug. IMG_1702
Picture Made by Shayne Smith
Is the shoulder operation the result of the necessary maintainance when it’s comes to battling, or that of a washed up fighter? It is definitely more than just another slight setback to his already legendary career, since it’s serious enough that will not see him contend till early 2016. At just 33 decades old, it looks like a normal procedure on the surface. However, to a lot of fans, this is just another reason to make a declaration that Shogun’s best days as a fighter are obviously behind him. Perhaps even he should retire. The toughest issue concerning the Shogun situation is that he is not even that old, but fight years are a very different story. IMG_1693 Many pundits accredit the overwhelming accumulation of harm to a combination of both his days sparring with the legendary Chute Boxe Academy and into the grueling losses he has gathered inside the Octagon. There’s not any doubt the Shogun’s time as an expert mixed Martial Artist has taken it’s toll on him . It was seen what the price are in association with winning those four UFC”Fight of the Night” performance bonuses. Can they blame for why many believe Shogun is well past his prime? This article gives a brief medial synopsis of the injuries the former UFC light heavyweight champion has accrued through his times as a professional fighter to further illustrate the ascertaining as to if a fighter is possibly past his prime, and also to prove that a fighter being close retirement isn’t solely dependant on age demographics. Shogun’s knees have faced more wear and tear than any fighter currently on the UFC roster with the exception of Dominick Cruz. The Brazilian first injured his anterior cruciate ligament training for his struggle with Forrest Griffin in UFC 76. Trying to fight with injury, he pulled out the ligament completely through the ensuing fight. The injury required surgery to fix and countless hours of rehab. Upon rehabbing the helpless leg for several weeks, he returned to instruction and sadly completely blew out his ACL. Another surgery and rehabilitation regimen kept him on the sidelines until his UFC 93 bout with Mark Coleman which was nearly a year and a half following the struggle with Griffin. While training for a rematch against Lyoto Machida, he once again injured his knee against doctors orders, he proceeded to fight anyways. Despite winning in convincing manner, the cause foIMG_1695r celebration was curtailed by Rua’s need for immediate surgery. Because of this it might be just over 10 months later before fans would see him create his Octagon return against Jon Jones. It was a struggle that not only ended his title reign in devastating fashion but one where the fighter seemed to be a shell of his former self for the first time. To put it simply, his knee imploded. And then it happened. And then it occurred once again for good measure. The surgical fix count needed to fix his knees immediately required three big surgeries in under three years. However it has to be mentioned that history had shown us MMA fans that Shogun can’t blame those injuries alone for hindering his fantasies of getting a UFC champion. Despite being plagued by the injury bug for a second time, Shogun went on to be UFC champion, however short the title reign was. Regrettably, it’s doubtful this time about that Shogun will recover his glory days of times past. As fans, most of us hope he gets beyond these newest injury woes to become a contender once more. However as handicappers we must take this as another indication he is not capable of competing with the division’s elite.

Illinois Online Betting

Illinois is home to many legal, controlled gaming options both online and on site. In the physical world, you will discover riverboat casinos, racetracks and a lottery. Online betting can be regulated with a variety of horse racing betting websites and fantasy sports sites.
Sports betting can be on its way to Illinois after a major gaming reform bill was approved by the legislature and signed into law by Governor J.B. Pritzker at mid-2019. Under that law, in-person and cellular sportsbooks are authorized to accept a complete assortment of sports wagers from anyone 21 or older and physically situated in state lines.
As it stands now, Illinois is on its way to becoming a gaming powerhouse between its big population and wide number of legal gaming choices. The accession of online sports gambling is particularly noteworthy as that will fans across the state easy access to legal and safe wagering.
Online Betting Sites in Illinois
Online sports betting is currently legal in Illinois, but it’s going to be a while before the first programs are approved to take wagers from the public. Meanwhile, horse racing and fantasy sports sites and the online lottery are legal and supply a similar encounter.

Horse racing, fantasy sports websites and also the state lottery can offer their services in Illinois provided they have the appropriate licensing to achieve that. Each prospective gaming website must get specific approval from the state gaming board before it could lawfully accept wagers from state residents.
One online sports betting operator has reserved its place in the Illinois marketplace so far. Only days after the IL sports gambling law was approved, Australian firm PointsBet.com announced a partnership with Hawthorne Race Course to build a retail sportsbook at the track, offer betting through multiple off-track betting locations and to launch a mobile app.
FanDuel and DraftKings are likely to join the fray in Illinois at some point a well, but has detailed any plans it has for the nation. As additional operators disclose their strategies, we will update this page with all crucial information.
Horse Racing
The Illinois Racing Board keeps a current list of betting websites which are permitted to take wagers over the net from taxpayers. The current list is made up of TVG, BetAmerica, TwinSpires and a couple of others.
My personal recommendation is to proceed with TVG or BetAmerica. These are the greatest and most well-known sites on the list and have the most racing betting options.
Illinois also permits off-track betting (OTB) at particular locations throughout the state. As the name suggests, OTB facilities enable you to place wagers on horse races in locations other than the actual racetrack. Each monitor may authorize a certain number of OTB places for a total of 43 potential facilities. Currently, 27 OTB centers are busy. You can see the complete list .
Legal Illinois Sports Betting
Illinois legalized in-persona and mobile sports betting with a law passed in June 2019. Following the House and Senate issued his stamps of approval, Governor J.B. Pritzker added his signature to turn the bill to the law of this land.
Under SB 690 (starting on page 227), Illinois will issue licenses to casinos, racetracks and professional sports stadiums to operate retail sportsbooks to take wagers in person as well as mobile betting apps to accept wagers online.
Online operators such as FanDuel, DraftKings and PointsBet may either partner with a regional land-based sportsbook operator or use for one of those three online-only licenses which will be issued under the law.
Now, it is merely a matter of time as state regulators draw up rules regulating the business, review applications from curious sports betting providers and problem the go-ahead for accredited operators to start accepting wagers.
The pending IL sports gambling law will have its troublesome areas like high licensing fees and requiring in-person enrollment for the first 18 weeks, but overall it could be regarded as a triumph for sports lovers. It’s always welcome news if a state eventually gets around to regulating and taxing an action that has been taking place underground via local bookies and overseas betting sites.
Mobile Sports Betting in Illinois
Casinos, racetracks and stadiums that obtain sports gambling licenses will have the ability to launch mobile apps under their own brand names. Casinos and racetracks will have the ability to accept customers from across the state while stadiums will have a 5-block radius where they may accept wagers through mobile programs.
There are two key provisions associated with mobile betting in IL which will inconvenience a few bettors, but these issues will likely be resolved with the passing of time.
First, clients will be asked to enroll in-person with a licensed sportsbook before gambling online. This usually means you’ll need to visit a nearby casino or racetrack to sign up for an account and confirm your identity. Once you get that out of the way, you’ll be able to bet at your convenience from a licensed mobile app.
Secondly, individual online-only operators will be prohibited from entering the marketplace for the initial 18 months till they associate with a local casino. If an internet operator chooses to go that path, it’s necessary by law to operate under the brand name of this land-based casino.
Online operators might also choose to wait 18 months then apply for one of three cellular betting licenses. Operators that choose to go that path will be permitted to operate under their own brand names, but they will be playing catchup after sitting out for a year and a half.
The fantastic news is the two provisions are set to expire after 18 months. Eventually, you’ll be able to enroll online from anywhere in the state and also place wagers via websites such as FanDuel and DraftKings if they have not already partnered with a local casino or racetrack.
Illinois Sportsbooks
Under the new sports betting law, Illinois casinos and racetracks will be allowed to apply for sports gambling licenses. These permits will authorize the construction of in-person sportsbooks as well as the launching of cellular gambling apps.
Licensing fees for casinos and racetracks are set to be priced based on 5 percent of every operator adjusted gross receipts but max out at $10 million. Expensive or not, most if not all the nation’s casinos are very likely to apply for licenses. Pennsylvania established a likewise expensive licensing strategy and though PA casinos originally balked at paying that much to provide what is basically a low-revenue form of gambling, they ended up using for permits one by one.
Sportsbooks at Stadiums
One of the more unique aspects of the IL sports betting law would be a provision allowing up to seven sports stadiums to apply for licenses to run sportsbooks. Stadiums that obtain these licenses will be permitted to take wagers in-person too through mobile devices inside a five-block radius.
Sports Betting Kiosks
The Illinois Lottery has also been authorized to go into the sports gambling company to a limited level. Under the new law, the IL Lottery may put up to 2,500 sports gambling kiosks throughout the state over the first year of this law being in effect. After that, the lottery may put an extra 2,500 kiosks within the course of the following year to bring the total to 5,000 machines.
IL Lottery betting kiosks will not be allowed to offer full-fledged sports betting; they may only offer you parlay-style wagers. The specifics of exactly those wagers would work still have to get exercised, however, the basic gist with parlays is players need to pick the results of at least two matches in return for receiving better payout odds than wagering on just a single match.
Essential Illinois Sports Betting Rules
The Illinois Gaming Board and Department of Lottery are tasked with drawing up regulations as needed to enforce the brand new sports betting law, but the law itself also comprises a number of important rules which we know will be set up once the first sportsbooks and betting websites go live.
In-person sportsbooks authorized? Yes
Online and mobile sports betting authorized? Yes
Where will betting occur? Casinos, racetracks and sports stadiums may apply for permits to operate on site sportsbooks and to offer online betting
Sports gambling kiosks: Illinois Lottery may operate up to 5,000 kiosks which will accept parlay-style wagers just Minimum age to bet on sports in IL: 21
Limited Events: No wagers permitted on Illinois college teams, minor league events and K-12 occasions Restricted Wagers: Professional sports teams may request the Illinois Gaming Board to prohibit certain types of wagers If They’re concerned such wagers can impact the integrity of the games Information Mandate: Licensed operators need to purchase official information in the leagues for settling in-play wagers
Tax rate: 15% on adjusted gross sports wagering receipts
Added local tax: An additional 2 percent tax will be collected from operators located in counties with a population in excess of 3 million. Money collected from this tax will go to support that county’s criminal justice system.
Self-exclusion: The Illinois Gaming Board and Department of the Lottery will set up a voluntary self-exclusion program for Men and Women Who Would like to confine themselves from wagering
Past Efforts to Legalize Sports Betting in IL
Illinois’ latest move to legalize sports betting is not the state’s first effort — lawmakers and business stakeholders have been contemplating the problem for quite a while.
The two bills were introduced in 2018 trying to legalize sports gambling in case the Supreme Court overturned the national prohibition (which it did). HB 4214 was a simple placeholder bill whilst SB 2478 would have created the Sports Betting Consumer Protection Act.
SB 2478 lacked details regarding regulations, licensing conditions and tax prices and handed the forming of regulations to a state agency. Which agency that could have been was left in the bill, but that too was decided at a later point. The aim in the brief term was to only end the state-level prohibition of sports gambling and then figure out the rest after.
A reading of the complete text of this bill reveals the authors also pictured online sports gambling being legalized. The bill referred to”electronic” sports gambling no fewer than 29 times as a possible form of betting that would be governed by the state agency finally assigned to regulate the industry.
The support of neighborhood casinos helped improve the odds of sports gambling coming to Illinois, however, casinos were somewhat slower to talk on the matter. But, Arlington Racecourse sounded open to this thought as it told the Daily Herald it would Prefer a casino to go with sports betting:
“If we’re treated equally with the casinos and we’ve table and slots games,” Arlington GM Tony Petrillo explained,”and then we’ve sports gambling, that is a venture which would be quite plausible for this property.”
The 2018 efforts to legalize IL sports betting failed to yield results in the short term, but new legislation enacted in 2019 constructed on these initial efforts to turn that fantasy into a reality. Early disappointments have turned into actions with lawmakers finally getting fully on board with lawful sports gambling.
Fantasy Sports
Actual money fantasy sports betting is legal at the national level as a result of an exemption by the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) of 2006. The UIGEA determined fantasy sports to be a competition of skill rather than luck since gambling outcomes do not depend on a single game or the performance of an individual player.
State laws also welcome dream sports so all the major US firms offering fantasy betting are available to residents. You’re welcome to register, deposit and win real money at any of the websites listed above.
If you’re not familiar with daily fantasy betting, this is a sort of wagering where you pick from all the players in the league (it might be NFL, MLB, NBA, etc.) and draft a group of about 9 people depending on the game. A virtual salary cap is enforced, which compels you to make hard decisions when determining how to meet your roster.
After you have a team, all you need to do is wait for that week’s games to play out in the real world. When the actual players score points and amass stats in the real world, your fantasy team earns points. In the end of it all, the person whose dream team has the most points wins the competition.
You’re able to play in tiny contests where you pit your team against a single opponent, medium contests with 4, 3 or even 20 opponents or massive tournaments with hundreds or thousands of other people. Your purpose is to make as many points together with your staff as possible and acquire a real cash payout.
Illinois has an interesting bit of case law background regarding fantasy sports. In 2013, New York resident Chris Langone brought a suit against FanDuel.com in Illinois court. He sought to claim over $500,000 in earnings from FanDuel and among its clients under an old Illinois legislation called the Illinois reduction Act.
The Loss Act is an old piece of anti-gambling legislation which makes gambling losses recoverable by the failure if the losses amount to more than $50. If six months pass and the sufferer does not claim the losses, anyone may recover those losses . Here’s the important piece of the law:
(a) Any person who by betting shall lose to some other person, any sum of money or thing of value, amounting to the sum of $50 or more and will pay or deliver the exact same or any part thereof, may sue for and recover the money or other thing of value, so lost and paid or delivered, at a civil action against the winner thereof, together with costs, in the circuit court…
(b) If in 6 months, such person who under the terms of Subsection 28-8(a) is eligible to initiate action to recoup his losses doesn’t actually pursue his remedy, any person may initiate a civil action against the winner. The court or the jury, as the case may be, shall determine the total amount of the reduction. After this conclusion, the court shall enter a decision of triple the amount determined.
The lawsuit was eventually thrown out due to Langone failing to satisfy the minimum threshold of recoverable money and because FanDuel itself may not be regarded as a”winner of gaming” since it only functions as a middleman between bettors.
Are fantasy sports legal in Illinois?
The significant fantasy sports websites all operate in Illinois and the state is home to several men and women who perform daily, but the legality of DFS has yet to be completely, 100% settled together with laws. Back in December of 2015, Attorney General Lisa Madigan issued an opinion that daily dream sports violate Illinois law, but no additional action was taken along with the significant DFS sites have continued to function openly since then.
Some lawmakers have also sought to push legislation which could legalize and regulate daily fantasy sports or outlaw the action altogether. House Bill 4323 introduced in 2015 and debated in 2016 would have officially legalized dream sports with the creation of this Fantasy Sports Contest Act, but that bill has been shelved in 2016 and eventually died altogether in ancient 2017.
A separate bill additionally introduced 2016 sought to move things in the opposite direction and classify the performance of a dream site as a crime. Luckily, that bill also expired in early 2017.
As it stands now, daily fantasy sports are neither explicitly authorized nor illegal in Illinois. The current status quo works nicely for operators and players, but it will be nice to finally see the issue firmly settled one way or the other.
Many DFS legalization bills have been introduced in the intervening years, but none have made it into law. Early 2018 watched some actions on a fantasy sports invoice, but enthusiasm for that bill expired and there have been no major changes since. Despite the AG’s 2015 view that DFS websites run afoul of Illinois gambling law, the significant daily dream sites do accept clients the state.
Lottery
Illinois was the first state to carry its lottery to the internet after a federal judge ruled that it would be lawful for states to do so. The IL Online Lottery went reside in 2012 and the website allows residents to create an account and purchase individual tickets for Powerball, Mega Millions and Lotto.
Any condition resident 18 or older will register an account and purchase tickets or sign up for subscriptions for automatic purchases. Winnings under $600 are credited directly to your lottery accounts and may subsequently be withdrawn right to your bank accounts. Should you win more than $600, the state lottery claims department will contact you with instructions for claiming your cash.
Here’s something else interesting: that the Illinois lottery is largely accountable for states now having the authority to legalize online poker and gambling. In 2009, Illinois and New York asked the Department of Justice to explain its stance on the Wire Act of 1961. Both states had plans to sell tickets online but were uncertain if this plan would run afoul of federal law.
It required the Dept. of Justice two decades to react but it was worth every second of the wait. Not merely did the DOJ approve of online lotteries, but it ruled that the Wire Act applies only to sports gambling. This choice is what paved the way for states like New Jersey, Nevada and Delaware to legalize internet casino games and poker.
Internet Poker and Casinos in Illinois
Illinois was flirting with the idea of internet gaming legalization for many years now. 1 effort came in 2013 when a major rewrite of the nation’s gambling laws contained a bit about playing, regulating and taxing online poker and casino games. Legislators yanked the part about online gambling before the bill has been passed the following month.
For a period after the 2013 bill failed, there was no word or indication that online gambling would return to Illinois any time soon aside from Senate President John Cullerton after calling online gambling inescapable. If the people of Illinois are going to be playing and gambling poker online , why should not the state get a cut? It would be better to regulate it, enact better safeguards for players and maintain those tax dollars stateside. That was the basic argument anyways.
Cullerton’s attempt to incorporate online gaming into the 2013 bill ultimately failed, however, he says he’s not out yet. He will continue to push the thought and hopefully make something happen for the players of Illinois. He also stated that internet gaming probably won’t come to Illinois until lawmakers finalize and enact legislation to permit the construction of fresh land-based casinos at the state.
In the end, he stated, online gaming represents a simple source of cash for authorities in most states. Lawmakers have the power to create a new industry overnight and generate a new source of revenue without raising taxes. The people today want the freedom to spend their money how they please and say lawmakers like the idea of further earnings.
Online Gambling Bill Passes from the Illinois Senate
The next big break for internet gaming in Illinois came about suddenly in May of 2017. With very little warning, language legalizing online gambling and internet poker has been added to a daily fantasy sports invoice at the behest of local riverboat casino pursuits.
According to local news reports, present casinos in Illinois view daily dream sports as a competing company model and were originally opposed to laws regulating dream sports. But, those casinos’d also been considering expanding to online gambling for quite some time. They could strike a deal with lawmakers and get the online gaming speech added to the fantasy sports invoice.
In addition to creating consumer protection regulations for daily fantasy sports, the modified bill seeks to legalize online gambling and issue licenses to operators. Present casinos, horse racing tracks and ADW operators will be authorized to apply for permits to get a program fee of $250,000 plus a licensing fee of $10 million. Operators will be allowed to cancel the hefty licensing fee against potential taxes collected on gambling revenue.
The bill was put to a vote in the Illinois Senate in May and passed by a vote of 42-10, but stalled at the house.
Is it legal to play offshore casinos or poker websites?
Article 28 of the Illinois Criminal Code seems to prohibit the mere act of playing poker or wagering on matches. The code does not specifically mention that the internet, but it could be interpreted to apply to betting on games everywhere with the following text:
(a) A person commits gambling when he or she:
(1) knowingly plays a game of chance or skill for money or other thing of value, unless excepted in subsection (b) of this Section;
(2) knowingly makes a wager on the result of any match, competition, or even any political nomination, appointment or election;
However, Illinois has never once prosecuted a person for playing games online. The country is home to a very high-profile poker players such as the likes of Taylor Caby, that has made millions of dollars playing online poker and running the poker coaching website CardRunners.com. There probably is not much legal risk related to playing offshore poker rooms or rooms.
Nevertheless, we don’t advise our readers to play for real money at unlicensed poker websites. The legal risk may be small, but it is not zero. There is also a significant financial risk associated with playing sites that still accept Americans against US gambling laws. The Department of Justice has show

BIG MARLEY’S UFC ON ESPN+ 12 DRAFKINGS FANTASY BREAKDOWN

This weekend, we have an 11-fight card in Greenville, South Carolina. DraftKings has some adequate contests for us to acquire a great deal of cash from this week. The main GPP is a $15 buy and $25k goes to 1st place with a total of $120k being paid out. They also possess a Qualifier only contest for $175,000. There will be 100 qualifiers for that contest and they’ll compete for a $50k first location price and $175k will probably be distributed between all 100 entries that qualify. I will attempt to receive my 3rd chair this week to max it if I can. Those Qualifier only competitions can be actual bankroll suckers, so be cautious chasing those overly hard. I’ll probably stick to the very best GPP this week and then throw a small number of entries at that $30k prize, then I will likely take a couple shots at the Q. I will also be posting H2Hs in addition to picking up H2Hs through the week to receive a fantastic quantity of drama into money games.
With that said, let’s get to a few plays I like this week along with my fade of this week:
Cash Game play of the week — Main Event STACK — Renato Moicano and Chan Sung Jung
For me personally, this is an easy pile in cash week. I think we readily have a floor of 100 with Renato Moicano and The Korean Zombie with upside of ~150. Additionally, it assures us the winner. As I have mentioned several times in the past, we do not need 6 wins in cash games, so play those kind of games safer and all you’ve got to do is conquer half the area. Normally 4 wins or 400+ points is great enough to cash in the majority of cash games. Even if you have a solid lean on this fight I recommend stacking.
GPP drama of this week — Jairzinho Rozenstruik — $9,000
Rozenstruik gets the highest ITD lineup on the card at -140 and he could easily hit 100+ DK points from getting that in around 1. The worry here would be him on his back in around 1 and scoring zero points during that and then going out and getting a KO in round 2. Or no KO in any way. Both of those would take him off the perfect lineup so we want this fight to keep standing and ideally an early KO. I believe that’s extremely possible and he will be a heart GPP play of mine this week. He isn’t the greatest cash game play however because he could be put on his back and be stuck there and perhaps even lose the battle like that. I am OK with him cash, but I won’t be making a priority like I’m being obese in GPPs.
Underdog drama of this week — Anderson Dos Santos — $7,900
This gambling line is about pickem’ having a slight lean towards Dos Santos. But, Ewell is your favorite on DraftKings and is $400 greater than ADS. Ewell is likewise the striker so that he to score tremendously he’s likely going to want a complete finish. His weakness is Anderson Dos Santos’ strength however. Ewell has difficulty staying off his spine and if ADS can place him there he could possibly submit him. He could rack up numerous takedowns for a high decision rating. I like the value we’re getting on him at $7.9k and I like that he should be seeking to grapple in this particular fight. That’s the reason why I needed to select him as my puppy of this week.
Fade of the week — Syuri Kondo $8,000
There are no real easy fades this week. I do have a full fade on Kondo however because she looks to be only a striker and I believe Ashely Yoder’s best path to victory is by way of grappling. If Kondo is not at a striking match for 15-minutes I don’t see the way she scores tremendously unless she gets a finish. I really don’t believe she’s KO power, therefore I believe it’s purely the substantial strikes and the win bonus which we’d be relying here. I’d rather take a fighter with more of a chance to complete or who is more likely to grapple. That’s why Kondo is my fade of this week.
Thanks for reading this and decent luck this weekend! If you would like my full-card breakdown where I breakdown every struggle on the card and give my complete DraftKings analysis, in Addition to all my pick predictions, you’ll find that for just $7.99 at this link below:
(Premium stakes are offered at that link too. I’m 81-51 to get +251.89un (+$25,189) since May 19th, 2018 on Premium Plays)

Sports Betting Math

Sports Betting Math

Most people who wish to place bets on sports are lovers to start with. It is not unheard of for a gambler to put some sports stakes, particularly during big games such as the Super Bowl or the NCAA basketball Final Four, however for the most part, sports bettors are sports fans looking to use their understanding of a sport or of a game’s players to earn a little additional money. Being a fan of a specific sport, a team, a school or skilled squad–these are all precursors to putting sports wager. Sports betting is also a means for a lover to get in on the action of this game, with some thing more than self-respect in stake.
All gambling is math, even games of chance. If you understand the mathematics behind the sport, you understand the game and can give yourself an advantage. For many games, like penny slots or even poorly positioned blackjack stakes, are so poor that smart bettors earn their benefit by avoiding them altogether. In sports betting, the mathematics is more complicated. Depending upon your favourite game, you might need to think about matters like bye weeks, underdogs, quarterback evaluations, and injuries with the identical fervor additional connoisseurs book for elaborate winces.
So how difficult is sports betting mathematics? The mathematics behind placing a winning bet is fairly complicated, but the way to keep in front of the bookmaker is rather straightforward. Should you collect on 52.4percent of your bets, then you are going to break even. We will have more information on that number later, including why it takes over 50 percent wins to break even, but some general knowledge about sports betting and the numbers behind it.

Sports Betting Basics
The easiest way to demonstrate the math behind a sports bet is to make an example. Let’s say you and your buddy walk into a casino, each with $200 burning a hole in your pocket. There’s a big game on tonight, the Cowboys and the Redskins, so you drift into the sportsbook to test up on the most recent news about the game. While you’re sitting there, you find that the wagering board, with some funny numbers on it. It looks like this:
428 Cowboys +175
429 Redskins -4 -200 38
Some of this is easy enough to read. The Redskins -4 signifies the Redskins are favored to win and must do this by at least 5 points to get a wager on the’Skins to pay out. The following number (-200) is the moneyline, in this event the Redskins are a 2/1 favorite. The last number (38) is that the complete, the over/under of this anticipated variety of points scored in the match.
More on Placing Sports Bets
Look at the over/under number, in this case 38. In the event that you or your friend thinks this will be a particularly low or high scoring game, according to your understanding of the team’s crimes and defenses, or information about a hurt player or bad playing requirements, you can place a wager on the total of points scored.
So how is a guy supposed to know how to literally lay down a sports wager? You need to understand three things:
#1 — the Kind of bet you want to create #2 — the amount of the corresponding team you have chosen and
#3 — the amount You Would like to bet Knowing all that ahead provides the ticket writer the specifics he needs to write the ticket without having to bend over backwards to process your wager.
Tipping and Sports Betting
We haven’t even gotten into the meat of the sports mathematics yet, and we’re already talking about leaning the staff behind the window? Yep. Here’s the reason why.
If you place two $100 bets, and you win, you are going to collect $440. You should consider leaving a tip about five percent of your winnings. Yes, that’s a $22 suggestion, but you just made a huge win, and surely you can spring for a twenty-spot for the guy who helped you win it. If you tip about the five percent mark regularly, when you win, then you are way more likely to get free drinks, which will be about all you’re going to receive comp-wise in the sportsbook.
Soback to the basic math of sports gambling. You and your buddy, after much deliberation, decide to each area a $100 bet on your favourite team. What now?
To bet on the Redskins utilizing the point spread, your wager is known as”placing the points.” For your wager to pay off, the’Skins need to win five or even more to cover the spread. Bear in mind, if the’Skins win by exactly four, the game is a push, and both sides recover their wager. Another alternate is known as”taking the things” using the Cowboys. That means the Cowboys have to lose by three or less for your bet to win, or if the Cowboys win outright. So you and your buddy go up to put your $100 wager, and you find out that the conventional straight bet in any given bookie pays 11/10. This means you have to wager $110 if you want to win $100. You and your buddy pay the bookie $110 and sit down with beverages to watch your bets arrive in.
These are simple bets. Deceptively since they make it look like the results of the football game is like the outcome of picking marbles from a bag. Put one black marble and 2 white marbles in a purse, pull one out at random, and there is your football game. After all, the chances are exactly the same: 2/1 for white.
But we, as sports fans, understand that the mathematics of a sporting occasion is a whole lot more complex. Sports bettors deeply involved in their hobby will subscribe to weather bulletins from important cities which take part in their sport, making huge wagering decisions based on a few mph of wind in one direction or another. Then there’s the unknown–does a player get hurt in the first quarter? Does weather become a factor? Is a particular player”in the zone?”
How Do Bookies Create a Profit?
As we end ruminating on the idea of the challenging mathematics at play in the background of major sporting events, we’re going to turn back towards the simpler side of sports betting. Bookies make a gain due to vigorish. What is vigorish?
Examine the above example again. You and your friend each paid $10 into the bookie to place your bet. That is what the standard 11/10 odds in sports betting are about. You wager that the Cowboys and your buddy bet the Redskins, a total of $220 bet. The sportsbook must pay back $210 into the winner, leaving a nice $10 gain regardless of what happens on the football field. That $10 built-in profit is called the vigorish, and it’s the last monkey wrench in the gears of sports betting.
Obviously, sportsbooks will take more than two bets on any game, but this instance is for simplicity’s sake. Looking at the total number of bets on various games over the span of a week and adjusting the moneyline and other numbers is another manner in which the bookie makes a profit. Fixing the odds a tiny percentage point in either way will impact the balance of beats and make the book more inclined to develop a profit no matter what.
Basically, a bookie is someone who holds on to money from bettors subsequently pays them whenever they win and keeps their money if they don’t. That’s exactly what the job is boiled down to its essence.
When a bookie sets chances for matches, he will establish what bookies call an”over around” to his group of odds. Another slang term used with this formula is”the juice” For the sake of simplicity, let’s consider a boxing game where the two contenders are equally gifted, of equal stature, etc.. Since they both have an equal chance of winning, a more casual bet may be even money. You place $20 on one man; your buddy puts $20 on the other. Whichever fighter wins awards the bettor with the total of 40.
Bookies do not provide even money like friends in a casual gambling situation. In the aforementioned example, with two evenly matched boxers, a smart bookie provides 5/6 odds for every single. That way, a $10 winning bet would just return $8.30 plus your bet. What does this do to the bookmaker? He can float an equal sum of money on both fighters, winning regardless of which fighter really wins. Should they choose $1,000 worth of bets on one fighter and $1,000 on another, the bookie would require in $1,000 but only have to pay $830, to get a guaranteed $170 profit whatever the outcome.
Bookies look at the weight of the books all the time and fix odds and other factors to be sure their books equilibrium. Though it isn’t feasible to completely balance a book, bookies that go too far out on one side run the risk of losing money, and losing money in gambling is the quickest way to find yourself in another industry. All these factors are why bookies normally root for the underdog–too many favorites winning in a sport with a brief season (like the NFL) can cause a bookmaker to eliminate money, while a lot of upsets (such as you normally see in college football) is a guaranteed profit for your bookmaker.
The short answer here is that bookies earning money has nothing whatsoever to do with your betting. It’s almost unheard of for one client to be allowed to place enough stakes to sink one book on his own. High rollers in sports gambling get exceptional privileges in terms of their maximum bet size, but those privileges often vary with the bettor’s fortune –maximums get raised following the bettor sees large losses and diminished (sharply) when the bettor begins to get lucky.
Simply speaking, a sportsbook’s profits are not necessarily impacted directly by how a single bet is called. Unlike casino games or slot machines, where it’s you against the home, sports bettors gas that the bookmaker’s business and only rarely is a single bettor gambling against the bookie.
Sports Betting Odds
Remember at the start once we talked about the magical number essential to ensure a break-even week in sports gambling? If you read enough about sports gambling, you are going to hear this amount repeated frequently: 52.4%. If a bettor could acquire 52.4% of his bets, he will break . Where does this number come from?
If betting the spread, you receive odds of -110. Sometimes, sportsbooks will provide a -105 lineup for a promotion or to welcome new business. But for the most part, in case you’re betting the spread, you’re getting -110.
We draw that 52.4% break even quantity right out of the odds. -110 is equal to 11/10. That means in the event that you bet 21 games, you’d need to win eleven of them and lose ten of them to split completely even. At -105, you’d still need to win an astounding 51.2percent of the time merely to break even.
If you don’t trust the simple mathematics behind this break-even principle, look at another real life example. Let’s say you get really into sports gambling after your Cowboys lotion the Redskins and you go home with a nice fat wallet. You then bet on the subsequent 10 Cowboys games, winning six times and losing four occasions.
That 60% betting record (together with the odds of -110 that’s traditional for against the spread bets in soccer ) will leave you with a profit of $160. Consider it–your $600 profit from your 6 winning bets minus the $440 you dropped on losing bets leaves $160. It took you 1,100 to acquire $160, which means that you need to wager $6.87 to acquire $1 on average. So you find the tiny differences between a 52.4% winning rate and a 60% winning speed –inside people 7.3 percentage points lies countless dollars in profit.
Now imagine instead that you misplaced one of those six winning bets, leaving you with a 50% betting record. You spent a total of $1,100, won $500, and dropped $550. That means overall your 50% record drained your pocket by $50. That is where the vigorish will get you. Not even winning half of the time is great enough to break even in sport gambling.
Professional Sports Bettors
Believe it or not, some people truly do bet on sports for a living. Maybe they work part time at a sportsbook or at certain other marginal job from the casino industry, but there is a group of gamblers who bet on sports due to their life’s work. With all the mathematics swirling around in our heads following the last piece of the article, it’s difficult to imagine anyone attempting to do so for a living.
If you are aware that a 52.4% record will mean you break , the simplest way to turn sports gambling to a profession is to bet enough so that a 53% winning record will probably bring in the kind of cash you want to make.
Another instance. Following your successful Cowboys experimentation, you choose to invest $10,000 in sports betting through the initial four months of the next football season. That $10,000 is set aside to win or shed sportsbooks.
You plan on gambling on 160 games throughout your investment interval. You dream of a 55% winning album because your win-loss with a 55% winning record will give you an 88-72 record. That is an expected gain of +8.8 units. How did we reach that number? To calculate your components, subtract the total of your losses (multiplied by 1.1 to incorporate the vig) from your wins and you’ll receive your unit gain.
Placing $460 stakes on every one of these games, a number pulled from some quick and dirty math about how much you could afford to wager in a single week’s NFL play without blowing your bankroll, would lead to a $4,048 gain if you keep that 55% winning record. Turning $10,000 to $14,048 in just four months is an investment return of 40.48%. I dare you to ask your lender for that sort of return in your savings account.
But that’s all assuming that you can select the winner 55 percent of the time. Do your research, check into the records of professional sports bettors. 55%, although not impossible, would put you among the elite sports bettors from the nation, or even the world.
Professional sports bettors have to fret about variance more than every other kind of gambler. Working against the forces of variance means handling your bankroll over the course of the season to avert the negative possibilities that may totally drain your wagering account. Professional sports bettors have the time and resources necessary to compute these variances, and there are even a few pieces of software out there that can help you discover your perfect bet in the face of negative variance. But the most important thing is that professional sports bettors would dream of having a 55% winning record, simply because it ensures you’re beating the home.
FURTHER INFO NOTE:
Pro bettors make their money on stakes that sportsbooks offer that give them the smallest betting advantage. The real key to becoming a profitable sports bettor is being able to find benefits, opportunities where the line a book is offering is vulnerable.
This is the reason why a lot of long-term sports bettors are mathematics freaks. Good sports bettors understand statistics, especially what are known as inferential statistics, although any greater mathematics will help when it is time to place a bet.
Here’s what an expert baseball bettor might perform in his head. After looking over data from MLB (kept religiously by all sorts of bloggers, data archives( and magazines) between the years 2000-2010, he notices a specific statistic pop outside. For instance: whenever the home team starts a left-handed pitcher the day after a reduction, that group wins 59% of the time. Superior sports bettors can do this kind of math in their head or very fast on paper. From this piece of information comes a brand new betting theory–look for game situations that mirror the preceding case and wager on them. Meaning he’ll only bet games where the home team starts a left-handed pitcher daily following a loss. Can he simply leap in and start gambling based on this back of the napkin math? No way. More statistical investigation is needed –he may discover that this was a fluke for that specific decade and isn’t a trustworthy statistics, or he may discover an even more advantageous bet based upon his first concept.
Pro sports bettors also keep near-obsessive recordings of their stakes. Obviously, no edge in sports gambling lasts longer than a single game. Taking proper records will even help you test concepts, like the above one about left-handed pitchers and reductions. Without taking good documents, no sports bettor’s bankroll will last quite long.
What Is a Good Record for Sports Bettors
So, at the close of the day, what would you call a”good” document for a sports bettor? Most casual gamblers searching into sports gambling see a pro advertising his 1100-900 listing and shake their head a little. How could such an abysmal record be something to be proud of? That’s a 55% winning percentage, and it suggests to those in the know that this bettor is actually turning a profit putting bets on sportsbetting. A fantastic record to get a sports bettor is any record equivalent to or bigger than 52.4%, because that number or anything greater means you’re not losing money. A 53% winning record, while not impressive on paper, means you’re really beating the sportsbook and putting cash back in your pocket. Consult your buddies that play the slots or play poker how frequently they wind up putting money back into their pocket.
A -110 wager, regular for spread bets in the NFL, gives the house a built-in advantage of 10%. This means that even if you do win, and you line up to collect your $100, some sucker behind you just spent $10 to hand the casino $100.
A good record for sports bettors is any record that guarantees they at least break-even. If you gamble 16 games this NFL season and you won 9 and lost 7, then you probably made money. And taking money from a casino is obviously a thing to be proud of.
